GCCS Soccer
GCCS Varsity soccer teams and coaches traveled to Beaver Falls, PA to participate in the National Christian School Athletic Association Great Lakes Classic Soccer Tournament on September 11th and 12th. Teams from Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey played in the Geneva College area, with the Championship games held on the college soccer fields. GCCS Varsity girls finished the tournament in 4th place and the Varsity guys took 2nd place.
High School Retreat
The 2015 High School Retreat did not disappoint those that attended. Our new Campus Pastor/Administrator, Pastor Turner was the main speaker for the retreat. Everyone was challenged to live for the Lord and commit this year to Him. The zip line was out of commission but a huge inflated pillow like structure took its place. The evening bonfire and testimony time was a blessing. Students stood, one at a time, giving praise to God for the victory over sin and weaknesses.
Yowsa Powsa
Seventh and eighth grade students enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition and water sport at GCCS. A dunk tank provided the water and the accuracy of the thrower provided the sport. The girls enjoyed playing football after the boy’s game. That’s right. We are an equal opportunity football school. The students played a few “Minute to Win It” style games and heard a brief Bible challenge on the ugliness of gossip. It is hard to believe that there was actually some left over pizza when the day was over.
Just A Reminder
Target stores will no longer be providing schools with a percentage of sales. GCCS will no longer be collecting cell phones, printer ink cartridges or toner cartridges. Thanks to all who sent them in the past. Please continue to save Campbell Soup product UPC’s and Box Tops. For every UPC we earn a point and we can purchase items. We recently purchased some much needed recess equipment and some water coolers for the sports teams. For every box top the school earns ten cents. This adds up very quickly. We appreciate your help in taking the time to send in these items.
